Among the Sibillin Mountains the Sibilla Mount is immediately recognized thanks to its regal top that is surrounded  by a large marvelous crone just under the entrance to a huge cave: Sibilla’s cave.  Sibilla was the queen of all fairies, who helped all inhabitants of the area with important advices thanks to her extreme wisdom.  As well her unusual beauty was wellknown even  faraway and there is at the entrance of the cave sculpt in the rock a sign of a German knight  who for curiousness came to meet her and after this no trace of him…. The marvelous fairies of Sibilla every night came down to the near villages to help the women in domestic works and to teach men dancing, specially ‘saltarello’. The legend tells that they were so brave because of their long and white cloths covering their goat hooves they had instead of feet.

According to a story, further, down of Vettore Mount there is a small village called Colfiorito ( Flower Hill) where the fairies came often and one evening they were sent away, insulted badly by the inhabitants and the fairies disappointed went immediately to refer to Queen Sibilla, who angry and humiliated let come over the village stones from Vettore Mountain covering completely the village. Years after some  nomads  rebuilt the village on the ruins of Colfiorito and this place still exists under name of Pretare  being the origin of word ‘preta’ stone. The fairies slowly returned to the village and new inhabitants who having heard about what was happened, respected these magic  persons who came to meet them and in fact all young of the place are the best saltarello dancers in the world…
